Jacob Hiser is a a versatile pianist/violinist who studies and performs a variety of musical traditions. Born and raised in rural Missouri, he grew up playing bluegrass, country, blues, rock, jazz, and European classical music. He aspires to create webs of connection between musical voices near and distant, in time and space and genre, tracing threads of musical lineages and kinship, particularly highlighting those invisible threads who tend to be overlooked or forgotten. He studied jazz piano at Missouri State University (Springfield, MO) and Contemporary Improvisation at New England Conservatory (Boston, MA). He is currently collaborative piano staff at Phillips Exeter Academy and Boston Children’s Chorus.
