Nick Hill is an emerging trumpet artist with many different comfort zones. On stage since the age of 9, Nick has enjoyed performances everywhere from punk basements to the Miller Lite Oasis at Summerfest in Milwaukee. Nick recently relocated to the Boston area from Wisconsin, where they were principal trumpet of the Middleton Community Orchestra, as well as a trumpeter and arranger for Mariachi Monarcas de Milwaukee. As a contemporary musician, Nick has been a member of Ensemble Uncaged at the Longy School of Music of Bard College for the past year and has performed with the Tufts University New Music Ensemble, Sun Salon improv collective, and various independent chamber music undertakings. In the realm of commercial music, Nick can be heard with the band Perf on their single “Miracle Whip”. Nick is also a brass quintet enthusiast, with performances at the grand opening of the Hamel Music Center in Madison, Wisconsin, and the University of Wisconsin Mead Witter School of Music’s 2022 commencement ceremony. Nick is a current MM student at the Longy School of Music of Bard College and has earned a BA in music and film from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Their primary instructors in trumpet have been Andy Kozar, Jean Laurenz, and Alex Noppe. Nick has also performed in masterclasses for such luminaries in the trumpet world as Pacho Flores, Louis Hanzlik, and Michael Mergen.
